Spent 2 days on the cleaning (not much cleaning) and did a few other things as well. I came across some issues that concern me. Evidence of rust repair and some filler in some areas. Decided to remove the doors and the seats. Doors, well one at least is not original, suspect both. Very messy under the trim and one only had 4 of the 6 bolts holding it on.
The doors show little signs of rust inside but the trim, the winders, locks and the hinges are pretty messy. I'm sure they will clean up though.
The seats are in poor condition and need a good tidy up. The slides need some work. The floors have been very rusty at some stage and there are signs of welding and bits attached to cover holes. A section in the drivers floor had a few holes in it so I decided to cut a piece out and replace it. Went farly well, however, the piece should have been bigger. An area which I thourght was sound actually was quite rusted and I ended chasing holes with the welder. The stuff that is on the floor inside is causing me problems. Nothing seems to disolve it and it is very gooey to remove. I don't know how I'm going to remove it.
I welded some braces to the stand today to minimise side to side rock. It still rocks end to end, but the flex is over the long brace so there is not an issue.
