Spent some money today. Silver POR-15, (wow, it's pricey!) and 3 different types of thinners + plus assorted other stuff. Saw some winders that may be OK, a bit futuristic but look like they would work OK.
Cleaned the area that I worked on yesterday again and taped the holes on the underside. Painted the POR on fairly thickly and (as usual) had some left over. Decided to brush the top of the fuel tank and use the left over POR on the top - filling and covering the rusty bits. The POR seemed to fill quite well, but decided to cover the small holes with something solid. I had some small pieces os thin Al. and using a small (3mm) wad punch I made some small discs of Al and laid them over the holes in the POR. Seemed to work well.
Gave the floor and the tank a second coat and got stuck into the passenger side floor. Heatgun, scraper and slopped copious amounts of thinners and scrubbed with wire brush. Worked well. The remaining 'goop' seemed to coagulate into little granules that as they dried out I was able to vacuum them away. Did that twice and the floor came up OK. Will hit with the wire cup brush, vacuum again and wipe over with POR solvent.
It should be ready then for some silver POR and then grey.
Better day today than yesterday - felt like I achieved something.
