I'm getting a bit behind again with this. So I'll try to catch up a bit.
The POR15 worked well on the brake line and David and I went and got the rest of the bits required to finish off the rear brakes.
The brake cylinders caused me lots of aggrevation. I poked them through the hole in the backing plate and connected the brake line to them before clipping them to the back plate. The logic behind this was that it was easier to line up the brake line nipple to the cylinder if it was loose in the back plate. This, however, made it very difficult to hold the cylinder fully in and attach the retaining clip. I had new clips and when I pushed one in, it simply spread and wouldn't hold the cylinder against the back plate. I tried a few times and ended up breaking one of the new clips when I tried to harden it a bit more. It just snapped - too brittle. And trying to use one of the old ones and it just broke trying to clip it on.
I only had one new one and one old one left!
Took a break, came back, got the other new one, disconnected the brake line and tried again.
CLIPPED STRAIGHT ON, NO PROBLEMS! Don't ask me why.
Went to the other side with the other old one. CLIPPED STRAIGHT ON! A little loose, but I was so relieved I don't care, I wasn't going to fiddle with it.
Jiggled and fiddled with the springs, brake shoes and handbrake lever and got them on ok. Wiggled on the brake drum, tightened the 4 nuts and I was done.
