I am an avid hunter and enthusiast of all things significant with MG's, my recent claim to fame was discovering LBL591E GREEN with the continuous race history complete with: keys, works fob, orig. title from the works, correct number plate and bits etc. (now in Canada). The red one you may know of was technically "scrapped by the works" after Hopkirk hit a curb bending the front suspension at Sebring '67, then t'was dropped on its nose whilst unloading on its return trip. The red body shell was then stripped and all numbers, parts etc. and tranferred to the car I found in Pa. This was done in the day by the factory (much like is done today) LBL591E Green, continued the factory campaign for three more international races in Sebring "68/9 and Targa Florio '68. My third discovery was the 1967 Bob Kilpatrick Sebring '70 race car still ticking, which was originally a 'works' recci car that was built by the competitions dept of NJ as a back up/ "mule" for the '67 Sebring races (blue from new) for Hopkirk and Hedges. This Blue GT was also an entry in '69 Sebring as a reserve car for Waldron Motors in NY. My first discovery was the MGC GTS known as the 'Mystery Car or chassis # ADO52 1061'. This race car from the UK has been written about extensively so you can just google the chassis #ADO52 1061... U-Tube has a fun animation piece too. Currently I am working on a very ealry '61 square A/H Sprite which was raced from new by a dealer here on Long Island at Bridgehampton, Pocono, Thompson and more. The car has the distinction of being the only race car left of the still living club "South Shore Sports Club & Beer Drinking Society". Its exterior is still in as raced condition with numbers, rondels, stickers in highway yellow - all mechanics are sensitively restored. The brakes, wheels and suspension are influenced by the works in the day and still have all Sebring mods in place. If you google http://fdfoto.com/ssscbds/phpnews.html you will see that Janet Guthrie is still involved with the club! My day job is a Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors in Port Jefferson, NY. I am dating a wonderful woman too...life is good
