Engine Numbers

The B-series engine in my car isn't from a B; I believe it is actually out of a Marina. The engine number is 18V658M-L17025. Also, the "clock", or engine block casting date, located under the distributor, isn't like a B's either. Anyone know what the numbers on my block stand for?

I have an mgb with thecode18v658-l followed by engine number...18=1798cc v =front engine rear drive ( vertical)658-marinal= low compression.........the 18v designation was introduced in 1971....like me, you have a marina engine....they are virtually the same as the mgb 18v engines...with soe minor differences....hope that will help !
