Hello to all,
I wish to introduce myself to you. I’m a volunteer curator of a car collection in West Chester Ohio that now includes a recently purchased Elva MKvll.
That I’ll register a bit later.
This thread is to ask for help identifying a chassis we’ve had for a few months.
Please share the photos if you wish and hopefully one of you will be able to shed some light on it.
It has a De Dion rear axle and a Lotus differential. The front and rear roll hoops may or may not be original.
Thanks in advance
Roger

Roger--

Go here for an overview of the Elva MK VII.

https://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z7991/elva-mk7.aspx

As stated in the article Elva MK VII sports racers had independent rear suspension, not a De Dion tube.
Given that the diff says "Lotus" the rearend may have come out of a Lotus 11 (non Le Mans) which had such a setup.

The roll hoops are definitely not original.

What do yiou know of the car's history? Is there a chassis plate or an engine?
Please send more pictures including of ther engine mounts.

Thanks for the reply Michael,
I’m sorry that I might have caused some confusion. The MKVii owned by Mr. Schumacher is not the chassis pictured in this thread. The chassis shown sold to us as an Elva MKVIi but I don’t believe it is. I will post more pictures tomorrow when I get back to the shop.
The newest purchase is the one pictured in the following photos.

Unless the chassis is very heavily modified it appears to be a front engine car, so not a MkVII. Maybe an earlier Elva sports racer?

Hello again All, I have some additional photos to post of my mystery race chassis. I’m beginning to think it is a modified Elva MK2 or 3. If I’ve read correctly those two models were the only cars sporting the De Dion tube axle.
This chassis has no engine or transmission and lacks a ton of other parts.
I hope these additional photos will help to identify the model.
I have more pictures if they would help.

Stan Mason is the front engine Elva sports racer guru. If it’s an Elva he could probably tell you what kind.

I’ve tried to find a point of contact but with no success.
Any idea how I can contact him?

I have not gotten a n answer back from the given email, could just be old.
I did find an address and phone number on the web but when calling it gives a busy signal and cuts off after a few seconds.
I guess I’ll just wait a few days and see if he responds.

This is #7 red car is a beautiful car. I believe I recall seeing it for sale in the UK some months back. However, if I am remembering correctly, there was not a chassis plate because that car was a recreation and did not come from the Elva factory

You are partially correct. The #7 car was purchased from the owner in the UK.
The car sadly doesn’t have the original id plate however it is assembled on an original MK7 chassis and original suspension. The body work is reproduced on factory correct molds. It runs on the Lotus twin cam engine and a correct Hewland M6 transaxle.
It is therefore an Elva MK7 Evo.
It is a well built and beautiful car .

It is this car, no?

Marketed as a re-creation. I recall seeing discussion on other forums before it had any papers that it had been constructed from an extra chassis and accumulated Elva parts from other cars. Pedigree aside, it is a beautiful car and well bought. I'd love to have it in my garage. It even has my lucky number on it, so shoot me a message if you ever want to part with it!

This chassis originally may have been a 1957 Elva MkII Chassis based on stamped front Triumph A-Arms and DeDion rear suspension. This chassis has been highly modified and strengthened with much wider wheels and tires than original.
